The International Committee for the Banner of Peace

Altai is a core of Asia, the land situated at the equal distances from four oceans. Altai is the place, chosen by the Teachers of humanity; this is the place, from where construction of the New World will start. Altai is the land, glorified in people's epos, legends and stories. Nikolai Roerich is the one, who stands out of the range of the famous scientists, studying Altai. He opened this pearl of Siberia to the whole world.

It is not that easy to put in words what actually happened on the 3rd of July, 2014 in Barnaul, the capital of Altai Region. That event was a Celebration of Spirit, rejoicing of soul, delight of heart! The faces of all the people present at the Ceremony were shining with indescribable light!

Let us try to describe the Event in earthly words…

Dr. Alicia Rodriguez, International President of the Committee of the Banner of Peace NGO-UN, in a very spiritual and moving ceremony, officially presented the Banner of Peace to the government of Russian Federation-Altai Region(Krai).

The solemn Ceremony took place on the 3 rd of July, 2014 at 3p.m.(8 o'clock Grinvich time). The Banner of Peace was passed to the Vice-Governor of Altai Region Daniil Vladimirovich Bessarabov.

At this Solemn Ceremony Dr. Alicia Rodriguez called Altai as the Territory of Peace, and all the people of this land-messengers of peace.

Many letters have come to the Governor of Altai Region, Aleksandr Bogdanovich Karlin for his supporting public initiative and that he officially invited Alicia Rodriguez to visit Altai Region to present officially the Banner of Peace to Altai Region. Mr. Karlin is supporting cultural development of Altai Krai on the permanent basis. With his personal support the first monument to N.Roerich in Altai was erected in 2009.

Banner of Peace is an universal symbol, signifying peace in the whole world. This Banner belongs to the people of all the countries. Banner of Peace is the Banner of Culture-it is a protective symbol of past, present and future treasures of Culture of the whole humanity.

2014 was officially proclaimed as the Year of Culture in Russia. And it happened that the Banner of Peace was hung over the Altai State Museum of History, Literature and Culture(ASMHLC) just this year of Culture. Along with the presentation of the Banner of Peace to the Altai Krai Administration and to the ASMHLC, 33 Banners of Peace were presented to the State Institutions of culture and education, to libraries, creative unions, funds and societies of Russia from the hands of Alicia Rodriguez, that sent her message with her heart.

This Event is of a great importance for our country! The official Ceremony of hanging Banner of Peace is a great support to all the volunteer organizations of Russia working for promoting peace, this is an Event symbolizing the fact that cultural and educational work in Russia has raised to the new high level. For Russia it is a step forward in promoting Peace in the World!

The official presentation of the Banner of Peace by the International President of the Committee for Banner of Peace, non-Governmental Organization of the United nations - is a long awaited by us union of enlightened energy of Nikolai Konstantinovich Roerich with his Motherland!

We all are especially grateful to our dear Alicia Rodriguez for her long term spiritual service in the name of Peace in the World and for her loving attitude to all her old and new Russian friends.

We are sure that this initiative of Altai will be continued by the whole country!

In March 2014 Alicia Rodriguez confirmed Altai Krai Public Organization “ Roerich Society “Belovodye” (Biysk, Altai Region) as the Altai Region Coordination Center of International Committee of the Banner of Peace

On the 3rd of July in Barnaul Alicia Rodriguez confirmed two more Coordination Centers of ICBP:1)The Autonomous Noncommercial Organization Center of Culture “Consonance” ( Abinks, Krasnodar Region) as Coordination Centers of ICBP in the South of Russia with the support of the International League of Culture Protection and 2) The Morality and Ethics Public Organization “ Hope of Heart”(village Kavalerovo, Primorskiy Region, Far East) with the support of Primorskiy Krai Union “ Peace Through Culture”.

Let us raise high Banner of Peace – the Banner of Culture over Russia!
