The Beautiful City of La Paz in Baja California Sur,
Receives the International Banner of Peace

Alicia Rodriguez, President of the International Committee for the Banner of Peace, a Non-Governmental Organization of the United Nations, radiating that great Light which shines in her eyes, and with the strength that Love gives her Soul, her Faith, and her Hope, stated: ’Mission accomplished, brethren, we have planted the seed of Peace in this beautiful City of La Paz, and this seed will give fruit since now great hearts and brilliant minds are in charge of its care’ (N. R.)

The Beautiful City of La Paz in Baja California Sur, Receives the International Banner of Peace

The 20th of January, 2006 was a glorious day for the Theater of the City of La Paz when it served as site for the solemn ceremony in which its inhabitants were granted the Banner of Peace through those representing them: the Mayor Mr. Victor Castro Cosío, and the heads and representatives of 25 institutions who represented the social community. Also present were state and municipal government authorities.

The institutions which received the Banners of Peace, all dedicated to public service, education, culture, community support, and the conservation of natural resources were: the XII Municipal Government of the City of La Paz, the Department of Public Education, the Superior Court of Justice, the Autonomous University of Baja California Sur, the Department of Culture and Civic Actions of the Municipality of the City of La Paz, the Southern Californian Culture Institute, the State College of Bachelors, the Integrated Center of Culture and Human Development S. C., the Southern Californian Writers Association, the Womens Center A. C., the College for Psychologists. The network of the Great Universal Fraternity A. C., the True Peoples Association, the Foundation for the Manuel Marquez de Leon Theater, the Roger Decongk Cultural Center, the National School for Professional and Technical Education, the Montessori School of La Paz, the Conservatory of the Californias Association, the TAI Active Kindergarden, the Scouts Association of Mexico, the Province of Baja California Sur, the Whale Community Museum, the Century XXI Cultural Center, the Center for Juvenile Integration, the Native Temascal Association, and the Community, Vision, and the Development Association.

Those assisting that morning to the beautiful building of the Theater of the City of La Paz — pre-school children, grammar school, junior school, high school, and university students, professional associations, parents associations, and public servants, all vibrated like one single heart while they observed the Banners of Peace being paraded before them, which at that moment would be delivered to them. Those were magical moments in which the emotional effect, moment to moment, kept growing, in which each individual fully identified their peaceful vocation, and they raised up to the infinite their lifelong commitment to generate only thoughts, words and actions that would promote peace, all this while listening to Nicholas Roerichs message of peace being read by Alicia Rodriguez, and the festival of light, peace, life, and love that was reflected in each soul there, whose eyes glowed with hope and joy.

If so, that for over ten years, great beings such as Victor Ramos and many others, had wished that the Banner of Peace would arrive, at now it had been made possible thanks to the enthusiasm of Matilde Cervantez, Sarai Gomez, and the heartfelt will and purpose of Elsa de La Paz Esquivel Amador, who were able to gather the will and purpose of those 25 institutions which were granted the Banner of Peace that day.

It is with dignity to mention the great brotherhood that flows among all of the persons that integrate the institutions that received the Banners of Peace, since they all profess respect, affection, and admiration for one another. And we know well that these virtues — respect, affection, brotherhood, and admiration are necessary for them to be able, as a group, to transmit the message of the Banner of Peace and the Master Nicholas Roerich in such a way that they join together in the great task that was started over twenty years ago by Alicia Rodriguez, that of generating a chain reaction so that peace may be manifested throughout the planet, and the day may come when everyone, regardless of any differences in creed, ideology, race, frontiers, social or cultural conditions, can love and respect each other as brethren, creating a better world united in its diversity.

When the ceremony ended, the Committee for the Banner of Peace of Baja California Sur was integrated, and they received the authorization and support of Alicia Rodriguez to work for peace in the name of the International Committee of the Banner of Peace, which they are now part of.

The memory of this magical moment and the impression of this magnificent group of human beings who love Life and Peace and commit themselves to work untiringly for Peace, will remain in our hearts and souls forever.

In the eternal memory will also remain the lovely orchid Heriberto Parra received Dr. Alicia Rodiruguez with, and the poem written by Nestor Agundez, the great sonnet writer from Baja California Sur, which we now share with you.

Yours kindly,
Maria del Pilar Gallego Vargas
National Coordinator
